The major scale has seven notes, spaced whole step, whole step, half step, whole step, whole step, whole step, half step.
It has the same notes as the A natural minor scale, with a different center.
In the lessonThe major scale: the formula W-W-H-W-W-W-HPosition 1 of 7: frets 8 to 13. The tonic, degree 1, is at fret 8 on string 6, at fret 10 on string 4, and at fret 13 on string 2. There are three notes on each string: finger 1 on the first, finger 4 on the last, and finger 2 or 3 on the one in between. 2 notes need the hand opened wider, with one finger stretching one fret past its own.
